Blowing In The Wind
I captured this nature portrait in Rensselaer, Indiana on August 12th, 2019. I was looking for Canada Geese when I saw this vegetation being blown around by the wind and thought it would be an interesting subject to photograph. I photographed this image in black and white because it was overcast and colors were very dull. I was drawn to the mix of different details in this scene; in particular, the small, finer texture of the cattails and the larger, smoother texture of the weeds. I also wanted to use bokeh (blur) to use the pond as a subtle backdrop. I used an orange black and white filter to improve contrast throughout the image.
